SoAfrica Festival

SoAfrica Festival was a two-day festival in October 2018, produced by Sheffield Theatres and its resident company Utopia Theatre. The festival brought a celebration of the African continent to Sheffield with headline music artists such as Akala, Dele Sosimi, Egypt 80, Aar Maanta, Breis, Namula and Sheffield’s own K.O.G and the Zongo Brigade. The festival also featured drumming, writing, dance and storytelling workshops, talks, and performances throughout the Crucible.

SoAfrica Festival approached us in August 2018 to spearhead and manage the marketing of the festival. We worked with the festival director and project manager to produce a strategic marketing and digital communications plan. We created templates for social media posts for use in-house, harnessing social media channels for brand awareness. We created copy and content as well as managed the Utopia Theatre website for the festival. We generated media opportunities SoAfrica Festival; on-air, TV, and print as well as provided support to both the festival and Sheffield Theatres on audience development.
